I have heard that cyclocross events are very fun for spectators. I caught the cyclocross fever a bit this year and finally convinced my husband that driving 2 hours to Gloucester, MA for the Grand Prix of Gloucester would be worth the drive. It was!
We departed a little later than we had hoped but still made it time for the first race, the Men’s Cat 4 at 9am. I knew a couple people in the race and wanted to make sure we were there to cheer them on.
The venue was simply outstanding and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. From practically every spot you could see the ocean. And looking over the field to the ocean with the riders zig-zagging along the course was a sight to see.
Some spectators found a spot on top of the huge boulder in the park:
My friend Robert was in the Cat 4 race. He looked sharp in the CCCP kit:
We also knew that Steve Bryant was in the race and found out later that Dave Shedd was also in that one from the Base36 team:
Here’s a snippet of video I shot during the Cat 4 race:
After this first race we figured saw a bit more of the course and scoped out some of the better spots to shoot video.
I have more photos and videos so stay tuned, as I’ll be posting more about the race throughout the week!
